Background
Born in Winter Park, Florida and raised in Brazil and New York City, Dr. Barbosa obtained her doctorate at the University of Georgia. She then received advanced training through a rotating emergency medicine and surgery internship in Hollywood, FL. Followed by a zoological medicine apprenticeship in Toronto, Canada.
Drawn home to Central Florida, she moved back in 2020 and spent the next two years at a busy companion animal preventative medicine hospital while obtaining her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture through the Chi University before joining the team at Animal Wellness World.
Dr. Barbosa’s primary interests are in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, exotic animal medicine, and ophthalmology. She has additional interest in ultrasound and endoscopy.
In her spare time, Dr. Barbosa enjoys being a Certified Divemaster and showing SCUBA divers the wonders of the underwater world. She is also passionate about environmental conservation, home food gardens and vegan cooking. She looks forward to helping the pets of the Florida Space Coast in any way she can.
